Safeway e-Auction Promotion (the "Promotion")will commence March 23, 2012 and will operate until the close of business on April 19, 2012 (the "Promotion Period") in all participating Safeway stores throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario. The Promotion is open to residents of the above provinces who are over the age of majority according to the laws of the province in which they reside, subject to the exceptions set out in Rule 5.
No purchase necessary. Customers must have a free Safeway Club Card in order to participate in the Promotion. Customers will receive one Safeway e-Auction Promotion Game Card ("Game Card") every time they shop at Safeway and have their Club Card swiped during the Promotion Period, while supplies last. Customers wishing to obtain a Game Card without purchase may swipe their Safeway Club Card at the Customer Service Desk. Customers without a Safeway Club Card may apply for a free Safeway Club Card at the Customer Service Desk. Limit one (1) Game Card per customer per day during the Promotion Period, subject to the following bonus Game Card provision: customers will receive one (1) bonus Game Card for every two (2) weekly Promotion participating products purchased per order when they swipe their Safeway Club Card during the Promotion Period. Store signage will identify weekly participating products.
Approximately 12,932,000 Game Cards are available for distribution during the Promotion Period, while supplies last. Each Game Card contains a break-open window on the front of the Game Card. There are four (4) ways to participate in the Promotion:
Online Auction
The online auction part of the Promotion permits participants who are members of the AIR MILES^® Rewards Program to visit www.safeway.ca and bid on auction items with the AIR MILES^® reward miles they have collected and that appear in their AIR MILES^® Dream Account prior to the close of each auction period. Participants who are not AIR MILES^® Collectors may enroll in the AIR MILES^® Reward Program by visiting airmiles.ca. By enrolling to become an AIR MILES^® Collector you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the AIR MILES^® Reward Program as amended from time to time. There are twenty eight (28) auction periods, each lasting approximately 24 hours, and approximately fifteen (15) items up for auction during each period. (The time remaining in each auction period appears on-screen). When opened, each Game Card reveals a unique nine (9) character PIN comprised of four (4) letters and five (5) digits on the inside (left panel) of the Game Card ("Access Code"). In order to bid on any item up for auction, participants will be asked to register ("Register") by providing their AIR MILES^® Collector Number, email address, full name, telephone number and create their own personal password. Prior to bidding on an auction item, participants will be asked to enter the Access Code appearing on their Game Card. Each Access Code allows the participant to bid on one (1) auction item, and to make multiple bids for that auction item if so desired. The participant who bids the highest amount of AIR MILES^® reward miles prior to the close of the auction period wins the auction. (For proxy bid, in the event that more than one participant bids the same amount, the participant that made the highest bid first shall be declared the winner of the auction.) The amount of AIR MILES^® reward miles bid by the winning participant will then be deducted from the participant's AIR MILES^® Dream Account. (In order to bid on two (2) separate auction items a customer must have two (2) Access Codes). Once an Access Code has been submitted for participation in an auction (or Group Buy, see below) it can no longer be used again for a different auction (or Group Buy) item, but can be used in the Instant Win Facebook Game (described below).
Group Buy
The Group Buy part of the Promotion permits participants who are members of the AIR MILES^® Rewards Program to visit www.safeway.ca and buy Group Buy items with the AIR MILES^® reward miles they have collected and that appear in their AIR MILES^® Dream Account at the time the Group Buy offer closes (see below). Each day throughout the Promotion Period (28 days), the Safeway e-Auction website will feature an item for Group Buy. The item will have a set cost (in AIR MILES^® reward miles) ("Price"), and can only be activated when a predetermined number of participants agree to buy the item with their AIR MILES^® reward miles at the advertised Price. There will be a maximum number of items available in each Group Buy offer, such that once the predetermined number of participants agree to buy the item at the advertised Price, the Group Buy offer immediately closes and no more items will be available for purchase at the advertised Price. (For example, if a Group Buy offer is for 125 espresso machines at a Price of 100 AIR MILES^® reward miles, in order for anyone to get the espresso machine for 100 AIR MILES^® reward miles there must be 125 participants who offer to buy the item at the advertised Price, and no more than 125 participants will be permitted to buy the item at the advertised Price). In the event that an insufficient number of participants agree to buy a Group Buy item at the advertised Price within 24 hours of the offer appearing on the website, the offer shall be withdrawn and no items shall be attributed. (Promotivate LP ("Promotivate") reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to attribute Group Buy items to participants who agreed to buy the item even if an insufficient number of participants agreed to buy the Group Buy item). In order to participate in a Group Buy, participants will be asked to Register (see Online Auction section above) and enter the Access Code appearing on their Game Card. Each Access Code allows the participant to indicate their offer to buy one (1) Group Buy item. (In order to participate in two (2) separate Group Buys, a customer must have two (2) Access Codes). Once an Access Code has been submitted for participation in either a Group Buy or Online Auction (see above), it can no longer be used again for a different Group Buy or Online Auction, but can be used in the Instant Win Facebook Game (described below). Participants are only entitled to participate and buy one (1) item per Group Buy offer (i.e. one item per day).
Instant Win Game Card
Customers must break open the window on their Game Card to see if they have qualified to be an instant prize winner in the Promotion. Game Cards that qualify as Instant Win Game Cards will reveal the message 'Winner!' printed on the inside (right panel) of the Game Card.

The number of Instant Win prizes and approximate odds of winning are those available at the outset of the Promotion. Total number of Instant Win prizes available to be won diminishes accordingly as prizes are awarded. No substitutions will be allowed. All approximate values outlined above represent the approximate value of each prize on February 15, 2012 and are subject to fluctuation. Promotivate, at its option, may substitute any prize for a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes are non-transferable, except at the discretion of Promotivate, and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions (cash or otherwise). Winners of free grocery product will receive their prize by presenting their winning Game Card, along with the grocery product indicated on their Game Card, to the checkstand cashier on their next visit to Safeway prior to the end of business on May 3, 2012 (the "End Date") (Limit one product per Game Card.) Maximum number of free grocery product any customer can win in the Promotion is ten (10). Potential winners of all other Instant Win Game Card prizes must first bring the potential winning Game Card(s) to their local Safeway store Customer Service Desk prior to the End Date, correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question and sign a standard liability/publicity release. Game Cards will be forwarded to the Prize Administration Office along with signed publicity/liability release for official verification after the End Date. All submitted Game Cards become the property of Promotivate and none will be returned. Following verification of Game Card(s), skill-testing question and signed release, Promotion prizes will be awarded to confirmed winners. Every confirmed winner will receive his/her prize within eight (8) weeks after verification. Game Cards that are not redeemed for prizes prior to the End Date will result in prizes not being awarded. Game Cards that are not original, have been tampered with, mutilated, altered, defaced, improperly printed, illegible, forged, irregular in any way, obtained through a previous Safeway promotion or obtained through unauthorized sources, or do not otherwise meet Promotion requirements are null and void.
Instant Win Facebook Game
To participate in the Instant Win Facebook Game, participants must visit www.facebook.com/safewaycanada during the Promotion Period and 'Like' the page. (To participate in the Instant Win Facebook Game customers must be members of Facebook). Participants then click the e-Auction Instant Win Game Tab on the left-side of the page any time between 7:00 AM MDT and 11:59 PM MDT during the Promotion Period, enter the Access Code on their Game Card and follow the on-screen instructions to play the game. Potential winners will receive a "winner message" on-screen and must then provide their personal contact information. Potential winners will be contacted by telephone and/or email by Promotivate within two (2) business days to confirm their status as potential winners, must be eligible in accordance with these Rules and must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question and sign a liability/publicity release. If Promotivate, after three (3) attempts via telephone or email is unable to contact a potential winner, the prize will be forfeited (forfeited prizes may not be awarded). Every confirmed winner will receive his/her prize within eight (8) weeks after verification. Potential winners must save their Game Card as proof of their Access Code. Each Access Code will permit only one (1) participation in the Instant Win Facebook Game. Access Codes that have been submitted for participation in the Instant Win Facebook Game can still be used to participate in an Online Auction or Group Buy (described above). Winners will not be permitted to claim a prize if they are not in possession of a Game Card bearing the Access Code used to participate in the Instant Win Facebook Game. All registrations become the property of Canada Safeway Limited (the "Company").

Odds of winning:
Prizes are randomly time-seeded each day throughout the Promotion Period between 7:00 AM MDT and 11:59 PM MDT (20 prizes available per day), and awarded to the first eligible participant to play the game on or after the random time selected for the prize to be awarded. The time of day when you play (as recorded by the web site technology) and the number of participants who play will solely determine whether or not a participant wins a prize in the Instant Win Facebook Game. If there is no participant who plays the game on or after the random time selected on a particular day, then such prize will be awarded to the first participant on the following day. If there is no participant who plays the game after the time selected on the last day of the Promotion Period, such prize will not be awarded. Maximum number of prizes a participant can win in the Instant Win Facebook Game is four (4).
No correspondence will be entered into with any participants other than as is described in these Rules. Promotivate is the sole judge on all matters relating to this Promotion and its decisions shall be final and binding. By participating in the Promotion and/or accepting a prize, winners agree to the use of their name, city of residence, and/or photograph and/or video image for marketing and/or promotional purposes, without compensation. Winner names, images and/or video may appear on television, in print or on the web.
Employees of the Company, Promotivate, their agents, and/or members of their immediate families residing in the same household are not eligible to participate or win prizes in the Instant Win Game Card game.
In the event that the number of items/prizes awarded/attributed/bought via the Online Auction, Group Buy, Instant Win Game Card or Instant Win Facebook Game is higher than the number of items/prizes outlined above, due to an error or to a mechanical, electronic, computer, printing, online or other defect, the Company and Promotivate reserve the right to terminate the Promotion, in whole or in part, without prior notification. Upon discovery of such an error or defect, all items/prizes previously bought/attributed or won may (in Company's sole discretion) be considered null and void and the Promotion may (in Company's sole discretion) be withdrawn.
The Company, Promotivate, LoyaltyOne, Inc. and participating product and prize suppliers, their respective affiliates, agents, officers, directors and employees ("Releasees") shall not be responsible for any event that may result in the Promotion being suspended or terminated. Nor shall any of these parties be responsible in any way for the use of or bear any liability whatsoever in any way attributable to the items/prizes awarded or acquired in this Promotion. The Company and Promotivate reserve the right to modify or withdraw this Promotion at any time without prior notification. By participating, participants agree that the Releasees will not be responsible for any event that may affect the conduct of the Promotion or result in the suspension or termination of the Promotion, including but not limited to any printing problem, electronic network, computer problem or any other technical or human error of any kind that makes continuation of the Promotion as planned difficult or impossible. The Company, Promotivate and other Releasees are not responsible for damage to a participant's system occasioned by participation in this Promotion, nor are they responsible for any problems that may arise including but not limited to technical malfunctions of telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or access providers, computer equipment, software, viruses, bugs or failure of any auction bid or Group Buy offer to buy to be received, or email to be received for any reason including but not limited to traffic congestion on the internet or any website or any combination thereof. The Releasees are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete or misdirected bids/offers to buy, or Instant Win Facebook Game participations.
By entering the Promotion, each participant agrees to abide by and be bound by the Promotion Rules & Regulations.
The approximate retail value of AIR MILES^® reward miles prize depends on the chosen method of redemption and available reward options at the time of redemption. If redeemed for flights (950 reward mile minimum required for flight redemption), value depends on destination chosen, date of travel and use of multiple carriers or suppliers. For example, one return economy flight from Winnipeg, MB to Halifax, NS is 3225 AIR MILES^® reward miles and has an approximate retail value of $666.00 (Canadian) excluding taxes. Winner must pay applicable taxes, related transportation fees, governmental levies, excess baggage and other non-ticket costs. The value of AIR MILES® reward miles redeemed for non-flight reward options depends on reward options in effect at the time of redemption. Prize is subject to the terms and conditions of the AIR MILES^® Reward Program as amended from time to time. Prize is not transferable or convertible to cash and must be accepted as awarded.
